About Cadia

Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.Ìý

Who we are looking for:
The Safety Advisor will be responsible for the implementation and continuous monitoring of safety systems and initiatives at our Cadia Caves Project. You will ensure the safety and health of our employees through the delivery of professional safety services, training, coaching and mentoring in safety systems as well as promotion and implementation of the site Risk Management System (RMS). Ìý
You will be joining a high performing fast paced team, passionate about influencing, leading and promoting a positive safety culture to all work groups on site.
Other responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the Health and Safety team and achieve planned H&S deliverables for CAD Caves
- Support the HS Director CAD Caves in delivering world class health and safety outcomes on the project
- Apply professional oversight, training, strategic safety guidance for HS initiatives through all project life cycle phases
- Optimize the global health and safety strategies, policy and practices, focusing on exposure to fatality and injury risks for projects
- Coach and provide support to the Projects HSR representatives
- Facilitate risk assessments, Management of Change and participate in Risk Register reviews
- Assist with injury management
- Conduct Procedure and Standard reviews
- Drive the integration and adoption of Health and Safety systems for the Project
- Contribute to Health and Safety governance and assurance frameworks to monitor and identify H&S risks and mitigations for onsite project activity e.g. fatality risk compliance
- Identify and execute Health and Safety improvement opportunities throughout the Project
- Provide expert technical advice and guidance to key stakeholders on the application of Newmont's risk management processes and protocols through all project stages including execution.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable and have demonstrated experience in an Underground Mining operation.
Additionally you will also possess the following:
- OHS Related Qualification
- Experience Safety Advisor role or similar capacity.
- Experience in Incident and Accident Investigation
- Experience in Risk Management
- Understanding of Safety Management Systems
- Advanced PC skills and computer literacy
- Ability to work independently
