About New Porgera
New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.
The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for
Engineer - Costings - Production Open Pit.
Reporting to the Superintendent – Open Pit Mining, the successful candidate will be working alongside Mining Management providing cost reporting, forecasting and analysis to drive efficiencies across the growing Open Pit Operations.
About The Role
- Tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering field
- At least 5 plus years’ experience in project management and cost management, designs and supervision, ideally in a mining environment
- Experience and ability forecasting and reporting on cost
- Attention to detail and motivation for success
- Proficient with Excel, and relevant design software such as Minesight, Deswick, AutoCAD or similar applications.
- Advance computer skills in MS Office Suites, Oracle, SAP,
- Strong Analytical and attention –to- detail mindset
- Excellent technical and communication skills, both written and verbals
- Ability to write comprehensive reports, scopes and deliver effective presentations.
- Highly motivated and success driver
- Strong safety consciousness and adherence to safety protocols
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Skilled in managing projects and contractors effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive open pit cost models for accurate forecasting and budgeting.
- Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports, including variance analysis and actionable insights.
- Drive initiatives to improve cost efficiency across open pit operations.
- Conduct analysis and prepare submissions for capital expenditure requests on major projects.
- Foster a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness by adhering to all relevant NPL policies and procedures

This role is offered on a FIFO basis from Papua New Guinea with a 21/14 roster on a full time basis with a highly competitive remuneration package.
