About The Role
Are you a strategic thinker, trusted advisor, and results-driven HR professional with a passion for driving organizational excellence and employee engagement? New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking an Advisor, Senior HR Business Partner to join the team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in promoting positive employee relations, fostering a culture of trust and respect, and resolving workplace issues and conflicts in a fair and equitable manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including interpretation of NPL’s policies, procedures, disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Investigate and assess employee relations issues, complaints, and concerns, conducting thorough and impartial investigations, gathering evidence, and recommending appropriate actions or resolutions in accordance with NPL’s policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases, investigations, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and company policies.
- Manage practice and compliance across the business through the provisions of expert advice and delivering education on Employment Legislation, HR policy, awards, employment contracts and employee relations activities to ensure effective risk management.
- Stay informed about relevant employment laws, regulations and industry trends related to employee relationships.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with management and employees, serving as a trusted advisor and resource on HR-related matters, and providing coaching, guidance and support to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures, and,
- Deal with other site wide HR transactional matters in consultation with respective stakeholders
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in employee relations, labor relations, or HR advisory roles preferably in the mining or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution
- Proven ability to investigate, analyze and resolve complex employee relations issues and conflicts with fairness, objectivity and discretion
- High level of integrity, ethics and confidentiality, with commitment to upholding HR standards and promoting a positive work culture
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- Rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage).
- Must Have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
- Possess a PNG valid driver‘s license – Desirable.
- Ability to foresee security inadequacies and implement plans to correct them.
- Be physically fit
