Harrison Schmitt, the only geologist to actually sample the moon (Apollo 17) has published extensively on Lunar resources, especially He3. William Ambrose, Chairman of the American Association of Petroleum Geologist, has also published extensively and provided maps of titanium cconcentrations and other useful minerals for future mining projects. Development of Lunar resources, as well as the resources from Near Earth asteroids, is the solution to any discussion of the limitations of resources here on Earth. The reduction in launch costs pioneered by SpaceX has made the economics of off-Earth mining, and refining, a reality. NASA’s schedule is the only discouraging aspect of this article. Private industry is ready, now, to initiate resource recovery from the moon and NEO’s. It is important to recognize the leadership that NASA has provided, but it is now time for private industry to take the lead and make this opportunity a reality,
