This “decision” is huge and devastating in it’s potential scope for the country’s rural economy. I hope the article is mistakenly using the term “mineral claims” and not mining rights as Alamaden is in the development stage for this property. To have simple claims be subjected to local permissions review with the influence of NGOs and preference given to Mexican companies like Grupo Mexico, foreign investment in the industry has little chance of moving forward.

Alamaden has been an absolute poster child on involvement, education, investment and complete transparency to the local community. If this travesty can befall them, other companies had better look at this as a precedence on how to loose your significant investment in the country.

It also seems quite convenient should the current socialist president continue in the process of nationalizing the country’s natural resources as demonstrated recently in his actions to takeover lithium production.

Invalidating the foundation of the industry, mineral claims, is a simple way for the government to grab exploration and mining projects and all the progress others have put into them.

It was a great mining jurisdiction. Hopefully, this “draft” decision will be overturned or the mining/exploration industries in Mexico are in serious jeopardy.

Look forward to quietly paying private fees to unnamed persons. Then your projects will advance on time. Now they are going to give up trying to move to a first world economy.
