The writers are huge teams of scientist, engineers, sociologist, economist, and other professions.
It depicts the evolution of the first space mining and its expanse to the asteroid and comet belt.
The comet belt is for ice, used for oxygen to breath and hydrogen for the nuclear hydrogen rockets.
Eventually, the colonies are exploited by the central bankers of Earth and move to independence.
There is no Star Treck “magic” science. It is based on technology progression.
The Expanse is a wonderful series.
Like the I Robot series that predicted Robotic Law, it may be a shadow of this progress.
