Job Description
The Welder is to perform welding fabrication and repairs as required by shop work orders.
General
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication according to requirement in shop Work Orders
- Component rebuild of mobile mining fleet including off road haul trucks, shovels, drills and other mining equipment
- Fabrication and equipment repair of loader, shovel and haul truck boxes
- Air-Arc gouging, grinding, flux core and stick welding
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
- Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
- Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety policies
- Comply with Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) rules and regulations in order to keep shop certification in place
- Read and understand welding fabrication techniques and apply to tasks
- Keep an inventory of steel stock and welding supplies, and reorder as required to avoid delays to work schedules and deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

Health And Safety
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
- Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area
Education
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: High School Diploma, Trade certificate
Preferred: High School, Trade certificate, and all position CWB Tickets (current)
Work Experience
Required: 2-5 years’ experience
Preferred: 5 years’ experience in mobile equipment welding and maintenance applications
Knowledge Required
- Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, and targets
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written
- Extensive technical/mechanical/electrical knowledge of mining equipment and techniques
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations
- High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy

- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Respectful of cultural differences
