But what the majors share with the junior is their unwillingness to come clean about the risk facing projects, such as the Codelco’s Llurimagua copper mining project. A very small sampling of the risks include: located in primary, extremely endangered habitat harboring over 200 species on the UICN and the Ecudorian Red Lists, a forested area where two endemic frogs were found here and nowhere else on the Planet,, earlier estimates, based on much lower ore deposit, called for four communities and hundreds of families to be relocated,,, opposition to mining since 1995 that has led to the expulstion of two transnational mining companies,, a very recent County-wide popular assemblies rejecting mining, a proyect beset by human rights abuses and illegalities detailed in 2019 reports by the nation’s Comptroller General and the nation’s Ombudsman.
